The Boîte presents JPN and Sebastian Lugo
The Boite presents JPN and Sebastian Lugo at Mark St Hall.
JPN (formerly Jason Khaw Trio) consists of Jason Khaw (guitar and vocals), Phil Sheppard (viola and acoustic bass) and Nilay Thakkar (tabla). Employing their captivating combination of sounds, the acoustic trio interprets Jason Khaw's original songs from his three albums (3rd one forthcoming) in intriguing live concerts. Jason's music reflects his life as a migrant, knowing two homes, and is influenced by acoustic folk, with strong trappings of blues, jazz, classical and world music. JPN uses traditional and modern instrumentation wrapped with thoughtful lyrics and interspersed with heartfelt story-telling.
Sebastian Lugo
A native of Villa del Rio (Bogotá, Colombia), Sebastian Lugo's musical career began back home, influenced by Rock, Reggaeton and Electronic music. He started his musical journey playing keys with Biograma. In 2015, Sebastian wanted a change of scenery so he packed up and made the move to Melbourne, Australia. After a couple of years, Sebastian Lugo became a household name in the Latin community, partly due to his consistent presence in the most important events and venues, including the St Kilda Latin festival, Johnston St Fiesta, The Night Cat, Ms Collins, amongst many other. He is renowned for his collaborations with Tumbao Social (11 piece Salsa band), Lo Que Faltaba (7 piece Reggaeton band), 15min Records (Production collective based in Port Melbourne), as well as his refreshing busking style in the heart of Melbourne.
