TroubadourFolk: Cameron Jones Trio + GoTwo's Sun 24 May'26
About
Cameron Jones Trio + Go Two's. A double bill: Everglades Club Auditorium, 2-5 p.m. Sunday 24 May 2026Cameron Jones is a guitarist, composer, a manouche jazz storyteller; festival director and educator. With his Selmer-style guitar, he harnesses the vibrancy of authentic manouche jazz. He uses percussive guitar rhythms to complement bright, expressive melodies.
Five annual pilgrimages across Europe saw Jones returning to the source of the genre. There, he traced the footsteps of jazz legend Django Reinhardt. It earned him the finest training any manouche guitarist could hope for: mentorship from the late Reinhardt’s family and friends. The result is a rare depth of authenticity that Jones brings to his repertoire in Australia. He introduces songs with tales of original time and place. In the true spirit of gypsy jazz, nothing about Jones’ performances is repetitive. Audiences listen in anticipation as he follows each piece in the moment. It’s dangerously spontaneous.
'I am most impressed with his understanding and execution of the Gypsy Swing style.’
Hank B Marvin | Lead guitarist for The Shadows
Drawing from the rich traditions of Original, Folk, Blues, Bluegrass, and Celtic music, The Go Twos create a captivating musical blend merging their diverse musical backgrounds and passion for folk traditions into a unique and enchanting sound.
Rosie McDonald & Nigel Lever were individually well known in the Folk and festival scene, but it was the music they play together that shines with an intimate and heartfelt intensity. In forming the Go Twos, they were joined by the uber talented Quentin Fraser on Dobro and Guitar and Ann Palumbo on Bass & Vocals.
Collectively they weave vocal melodic lines with a rhythmic and driving pulse to reinterpret the folk song & tune tradition along with originals played with finger style & flat pick guitar, mandolin & bouzouki.
The Go Twos present a joyful antidote to current times. Sadly Nigel Lever passsed unexpectedly in late 2025, but his music and his inspiring spirit lives on. This is a joyful, yet poignant concert, the Central Coast release of their recently completed CD.
