2026 Cold Water Qualifier Swim

Saturday, 2nd May 2026. 6am-2pm

Your feeder & observers will be based at Half Moon Bay, Black Rock.

Depending on your registration choice:

• 6/8h category - start at 6am (must bring your cap lights)
• 2/4h category - start at 7:30am

Successfully completed swims, as per the governing rules of your intended swim, will be certified by a swim coach.

The Black Rock yacht club (BRYC) will provide: 
•    Access to change rooms and showers
•    Access to hot water for Feeds/Thermos
•    Access to the steam room
•    On-land recorders and observers
•    On water safety kayaks  (but swimmers can bring own support kayaks if preferred)
•    Swim support (we recommend swimmers to bring their own dedicated feeders who know their feed schedule, but local help can be provided if needed).

Bring your own plain cap (we will number it)

Medicals are recommended before taking on long cold-water swims, but not mandated. This event is ‘at your own risk’.

For Non-BRYC members,

• $35 to cover use of club facilities for 3 days (Friday 1st May- Sunday 3rd May)

Friday night:  Join us for an evening Sundowners swim (5pm) followed by a drink / bar meal at the club (may need to book a barmeal. but snacks, such as hot chips can be ordered)

Saturday swim route(s), short course when dark for 6am swimmers (approx 1km loop), extended to 2km  when light. courses getting Parks Vic approval 

Sunday morning:  9am-ish, casual recovery swim (replacement qualifier day should Saturday’s weather be deemed unfavourable).

All day paid council parking is available in nominated parking bays.

The Beach Café opens mid-morning providing much needed coffee, assorted cakes, hot chips, egg and bacon rolls.
