This foundational course is the first in a series of paediatric programs Julie will be teaching in Australia.The First 18 months encompasses rapid neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, immune, endocrine and structural change, alongside profound cognitive, social and communicative development.
Intrauterine life, birth, the transition to newborn and early infancy can shape health both short and long term. This course offers guidance on how Osteopathy can fundamentally support early childhood development across all domains.
It is designed for osteopaths wanting to feel more confident when working with babies and toddlers.
With over 40 years of clinical practice & teaching in paediatrics, Julie shares practical, frameworks developed through decades of experience.
This program will explore:
• Development & variations across the first 18 months
• Taking a comprehensive history to understand the effects of pregnancy, birth, the neonatal period and growth.
• Observational skills, palpation and assessment before intervening
• Appropriate examination procedures and early treatment approaches, with guided practicals, and demonstrations on children.
• Recognising red flags and when to refer
• Communicating clearly and supportively with parents
The intention of this program is to deepen clinical reasoning, refine observational skills, and support safe, thoughtful decision-making within scope of practice.
It is suitable for osteopaths of all levels of experience seeking to expand their paediatric confidence within a supportive, clinically grounded learning environment.
