Magic Happens - How Painting works an an Art Therapy (CANCELLED)
About
In addition to their exhibition 'The Resonant Mark' at the Station Creative Workspace, Painting with Parkinson's will run the workshop 'Magic Happens - How Painting works as an Art Therapy'.The workshop will explore a range of approaches to Art Therapy and focus in particular, on the Tingey Painting with Parkinsons approach. It provides opportunities for people with Parkinson’s to express their emotions and thoughts through art in a safe and supportive environment. The strength of this program is that it values the individual characteristics of people with the Parkinson’s condition. Fundamental to its efficacy has been the concept of ‘flow’ and the role/dynamic of water-based art material. The sessions will focus on that dynamic/strategic approach and engage participants with both the theory behind the program and the practice.
While the Program has focused essentially on its role with those with Parkinsons – it is also applicable to a range of other conditions.
