Space in your Classroom - Teacher PD session
From our oldest cultural stories to the technologies we use today, space is all around us. Its unique blend of scientific and social relevance has the power to bring big, global ideas to life for our students. This session will explore our growing Australian space sector and some of the unique learning opportunities that come along with it!
The Australian Space Discovery Centre (ASDC) is a place for the Australian community to explore the latest innovations in space technologies and expand their understanding of our role in the global space sector. As part of the Australian Space Agency’s role in communicating the criticality of space technologies and promoting the pursuit of space-related careers and skill development, we offer a suite of in-person and online programs, resources, and workshops to school groups nationally.
During this session, our team will show you how to weave current Australian space projects into your science curriculum. From the ethics of managing space debris and satellites, to advancing agriculture on the Moon, we’ll demonstrate how space concepts can be used as a foundation for exploring global issues. Science as a Human Endeavour lies at the heart of our programming, with links to Inquiry and Understanding streams throughout. For schools delivering an integrated STEM approach, explore our cross-disciplinary links to Mathematics and Design Technologies!
