SESSIONS
DESCRIPTION
STATUS

Every attendee will need to select the following options from the below session options. This is to ensure that you have both a ticket for the all day conference, as well as tickets for your two nominated individual professional development sessions.

Extended Reality (XR) in Education
Presenter: Jesse Harrison
Audience: Teaching Staff, eWorks
Educator Passport Points: 4 Professional Currency Points
Overview: Explore how Extended Reality (XR) can transform teaching and learning by creating immersive, skills focused experiences that go far beyond traditional classroom methods. In this session, we’ll unpack what XR is, why it’s rapidly becoming essential in vocational education, and showcase practical examples already being used across BKI. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of how to get started, what tools and support are available, and how XR can elevate learner engagement and outcomes.

Nano Learning
Presenter: Elissa McKenzie, Kent Martin, Lucy Price, Berry McSherry, Jeanette Swain
Audience: Teaching Staff, eWorks, and Corrections
Educator Passport Points: 4 Professional Currency Points
Overview: Make learning more engaging with Nano learning - this session will introduce Nano Learning as a simple, relatable way to make learning more engaging and immediately useful. We’ll show what it is, why it works, and how it’s already being used across different teaching areas through three quick real-world examples. Staff will walk away knowing exactly how to start using endorsed tools, where to get support, and how Nano Learning can strengthen everyday practice.

The Friction Fix: Embedding Neuroinclusion in working relationships
Presenter: Tana Cooklin Cevallos
Audience: Professional Staff
Educator Passport Points: Not Applicable
Overview: Understanding our needs as professionals is key to communicating, collaborating, and meeting our personal and team goals. This session will use somatic facilitation techniques to build staff members’ awareness and vocabulary of their working styles through a neuro-inclusive lens, building off the Neuroinclusion plenary session. Participants will learn about how to actively build working environments and relationships that allow them to show up authentically, and build a culture of accountability, transparency, and curiosity.

The Friction Fix: Embedding Neuroinclusion in teaching
Presenter: Helen Hutchins
Audience: Teaching Staff
Educator Passport Points: 4 Professional Currency Points
Overview: Building on the Neuroinclusion plenary session, this session will continue to educate teaching staff about neurodivergent needs spectrums and how to recognise and support them within learning environments. They will be supported to identify their own needs and boundaries as educators, and embed universal design principles in their education delivery, to increase accessibility for students.

AI Developments in 2026
Presenter: Dilhan and Guy Moxley
Audience: All Staff
Educator Passport Points: 4 Professional Currency Points
Overview: To effectively prepare for the future, BKI’s approach to AI must shift from focusing solely on current practices to anticipating what lies ahead and how the organisation can respond responsibly. Instead of dwelling on “how AI works today”, we shall discuss a shift to move to “what’s coming next and how BKI prepares responsibly”. This future-focused lens is especially relevant for Teachers, Non-Teachers, VETASSESS, and eWorks covering the following areas;

  • The Next Phase of AI Development: From Tools to Agents

  • Skills of the Future: What Must People Learn Now?

  • Future of Teaching and Learning in an AI Rich-World

  • Trust, Fairness and High-Stakes Decisions

  • Oganisational Readiness: What Must BKI Get Right Now?

Design Thinking in Action
Presenter: Jessica Flynn
Audience: All Staff
Educator Passport Points: Not Applicable
Overview:  A hands‑on workshop that introduces staff to a human‑centred approach to solving real workplace challenges. Working collaboratively, participants will build empathy, define problems clearly, and generate practical ideas they can apply in their own roles. No prior experience required—just curiosity and a willingness to participate.
