Written by award-winning South Australian historian, Samuel Doering, 'There's a Point to it' positions Immanuel Church as one of the most significant Lutheran centres in the state’s history. It was here that Immanuel College was founded before later moving to Novar Gardens. The congregation also gave its name to Immanuel Seminary and Immanuel Church in North Adelaide, and has served as a spiritual home to generations of influential pastors, including Martin Stolz, Friedrich Leidig, Julius Rechner, and Heinrich and Henry Proeve.

'There’s a Point to It' uncovers a story far more dramatic than many might expect from a quiet Mid-North congregation. Drawing on extensive archival research, the book reveals ambitious founders, theological conflict, wartime pressures, educational innovation, and moments of both spiritual devotion and social upheaval - including episodes of literal door-bashing violence!

Customers can either collect their pre-ordered book during the anniversary weekend or have it posted to them throughout Australia. If you would like your book posted domestically, please select the domestic postage option and ensure that your postal address is filled out on the form so that it can be delivered to you. Pre-ordered books will only be posted after the anniversary weekend.
