Direct from Greece - Elsa Mouratidou performs at Oakleigh Music Hall - joining her is Taxim Trio musicians Kon Velanis, Themelis Samarkos, and Con Kalamaras.Elsa Mouratidou is a Greek vocalist, performer, and vocal coach known for blending traditional Greek music with contemporary and world-music influences. Born and raised in Thessaloniki, she began her musical journey as a child in the Ayia Triada Children’s Choir and later studied Greek literature and vocal technique.
With more than two decades of experience, Mouratidou has performed widely in Greece and internationally, collaborating with prominent musicians and appearing at festivals and cultural venues across Europe and beyond. She is involved in several musical projects, including the a cappella group Stringless, the Argatia Ensemble (focused on Black Sea traditions), and the Celtic-inspired band Tir Fada.
Alongside her performing career, she has worked extensively as a vocal coach and has contributed to theatre productions with the National Theatre of Northern Greece. Her work is characterised by a deep exploration of folk traditions from Greece, the Caucasus, and the Mediterranean, often presented through innovative contemporary arrangements.
