An Operatic Afternoon

Singers of Southern Tasmania presents a delightful selection of opera choruses and songs by Verdi, Rossini and Puccini in the Hobart College Theatre, 50 Olinda Grove, Mount Nelson, with refreshments to follow.The concert features well-loved choruses from operas by Italian composers Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini, including the moving ‘Va, pensiero’ from Verdi’s Nabucco, and the lively ‘Anvil chorus’ from his Il Trovatore, together with the beautiful 'Humming chorus' from Puccini's Madama Butterfly.
The program also includes a selection of light-hearted songs by Gioachino Rossini, who was famous for both comic and serious opera but retired from large-scale composition while still in his thirties. These songs are from an extensive collection of later compositions which he entitled 'Sins of Old Age'.
The venue has ample free parking and level access.
Tickets $30 full | $25 concession
