Ned Branchi Band (Album Launch) (George Lane Mat. Sessions)
Melbourne born Singer songwriter Ned Branchi returns to his old stomping ground St Kilda, for a matinee performance at George Lane on Saturday May 16th with “The Ned Branchi band”.
During the early 80s Branchi was a Bass player and singer songwriter in Numerous bands in Melbourne. From ’89-’91 was a founding member and singer songwriter of Bigger Than Jesus" and in ‘94 formed "Spoon" (Australia) releasing 2 albums “Spoon” and “StKilda Sun”. As an Ethnomusicologist Branchi produced 4 albums in Indonesia working with local Gamelan musicians between 2009-2015. After a 10 year Hiatus due to a motorcycle accident Branchi has recently produced the “Femur”album. A discussion about healing, trauma and hospitals as Liminal Spaces, where we all traverse the most fundamental “Rites Of Passage”. A dark but uplifting album with a stylistically black humour.
Supporting will be Robin Casinader: Songwriter and Keyboard player in “Dave Graney & Coral Snakes”. Casinader, also a well known songwriter will be performing his own original music in the first set and then Joining in the last set on some of the songs in The Ned Branchi Band.
Special guest Jack Howard has played trumpet with Hunters and Collectors and for the last 20 years, he's been releasing his own highly- regarded music. Along the way, he's also played with The Living End, The Violent Femmes, Rodriguez and a host of others. In 2017, Jack toured the world with Midnight
Oil as their trumpeter/multi-instrumentalist.
