Scout Hike 2026 - 1st Woodend Scouts
About
This Trybooking form is for 1st Woodend Scout Group to sign up for Scout Hike 2026.Scout Hike is an annual, state-wide hiking event with up to 1,200 youth participating. This year, Scout hike will be held in Tallarook State Forest on Friday 15th – 17th May.
Depending on their age, ability and experience, Scouts will either be placed in a learner or competitive patrol for the weekend. Learner patrols will be accompanied by an adult mentor leader (from Woodend) for the duration of the weekend. Woodend Scout leaders will ensure all scouts are placed in a patrol appropriate for them.
As a guide, in 2025 our learner patrol hiked 20kms over the weekend and our competitive patrol hiked 35kms!
Competitive patrols will be hiking without a leader and with all their gear for the weekend - sleeping at 2 different sleep points. Learner patrols will leave their tent set up for Saturday and will return to the same sleep point. Learner patrols will however have to hike with all their gear on the Sunday to get to the finish point. There are activities set up at different locations within the forest which scouts will hike between and participate in. Some activities are purely for fun, others are related to OAS badge work.
This is a great event that encourages all scouts to get out and experience hiking and lightweight camping and to help develop their knowledge and skills (i.e. map reading, route planning, compass reading, estimation, first aid, construction, cooking etc.) needed for a weekend of hiking.
Trybooking will close for this event on 25 March.
