Dive Supervisor Course
About
This 2-week course is designed to align with UWA business needs to Supervise the modes and operational tasks of Scientific Diving undertaken by UWA. The course is aligned with relevant elements form the Australian Standards 2815.5. Utilizing elements of Leadership and Management training, Diving Emergency Management, ISO 31000 Risk management, practical aptitude, effective planning, codes of practice and regulations, being contextualize to occupational diving as conducted for UWA. Face to Face and online requirements may be utilized. Training and assessment in both theory and practical, written and verbal. 100% attendance is required. Weather dependency is noted.
During this training course, participants will engage in simulated emergency management scenarios that replicate the demanding conditions of real-world crises. These exercises are designed to foster resilience, sharpen critical decision-making skills, and enhance team coordination under stress. Scenarios may involve exposure to psychological and emotional stressors, including time pressure, complex problem-solving, and dynamic interpersonal challenges.
This program is best suited to individuals who are willing to engage fully in high-intensity environments and reflect constructively on their performance under pressure. Those who may find such conditions distressing or unsuitable for their current circumstances are encouraged to consider whether this training aligns with their personal or professional goals before enrolling.
Support and guidance will be provided throughout the course to ensure a safe, respectful, and growth-oriented experience.
Prerequisites as written in AS2815.5:
- Current First aid
- Hold certification for relevant part of AS2815 training for minimum of 12 months.
- Minimum experience of 75 hours occupational diving is required. Proof of operation experience over range of environments, tasks and equipment.
- Provide evidence of attributes required to supervise including ability to lead and provide support to groups of other workers.
- Present letters of suitability for dive supervisor by a recognised diving employer.
All participants are required to meet the requirements of Scientific Diver including provision of and advanced resuscitation / Oxygen supply, current Occupational AS2299.1 medical, their own Diving equipment with current service records.
Emergency and training equipment will be provided. Emergency management practicals must be attended in person.
