Sessions will be lead by Jo Oosterhoff, director of A Cappella West Chorus. A bit about Jo ...
Jo is a passionate advocate for singing and music education, with over three decades of experience in the barbershop and a cappella community. Her dedication to musical education and promoting the joy of singing has made her a respected leader both in Australia and internationally.
As a barbershop performer, Joanne has achieved remarkable success with her quartets as Australian champions and recently placing in the top 10 on the international stage and providing an inspirational role model for many other singers in the Sweet Adelines organisation. As director of A Cappella West Jo has helped build a chorus that has achieved great success both on the competition stage and as a thriving and vibrant community of women.
She is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of singers. She worked with multiple schools in Perth to run the Big Barbershop Day Out 2005-2012 and organised the A Cappella Exposure workshops (that replaced BBDO), for a number of years. She also served as faculty for school workshops in Adelaide and Hobart, and spent several years working with teens at Peter Moyes Anglican Community School, directing choir and a small a cappella ensemble.
She serves as Vice President of Youth Development with the Barbershop Harmony Australia (BHA), while also managing the youth programme for Sweet Adelines Australia (SAA), coordinating a multi-organisational effort to advocate for stronger engagement by young Australians in a cappella singing.
