Written by Gisborne based playwright, actor and Kathakali dancer, Dr. Arjun Raina, Camp Darwin is a drama set in the Howard Springs Quarantine Facility in Darwin, Northern Territory. Having been stuck in India for over a year during the pandemic, 150 Australian citizens find themselves returned via a government aided Qantas flight to Darwin. At the Quarantine Centre, we meet Raminder and Dalip, both of Indian origin, Peter Xu, a Chinese Australian and Jack, Larry, and Chris, Australians of Anglo Saxon heritage. Based on lived experience, Camp Darwin is a carefully observed exploration of the struggles we face when caught between worlds, and the ways we seek connection and comfort to overcome those struggles.
