Chapter 1- Shia Youth Event (Park Mingle Meetup)
About
Join us for a relaxed outdoor meetup designed to help young members of the Shia Muslim community connect in a comfortable and welcoming environment. This casual mingle-style gathering will take place at a park in Hawthorn from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. The event is designed to give attendees the opportunity to meet other Shia Muslims of the opposite gender in a respectful setting, with the shared intention of getting to know one another and potentially finding a suitable partner for marriage.
Many young people in our community attend the same events - majalis, Eid gatherings, milads, and family dinners - yet often never have the chance to properly meet or interact due to community segregation. This meetup aims to bridge that gap by creating a relaxed space where meaningful introductions can happen naturally.
The format is informal and social. Attendees are free to move around, chat, and meet others throughout the event. For those who may feel nervous or introverted, our hosts will be present to help facilitate introductions and ensure everyone feels comfortable. Most people attend on their own, so there’s no need to feel hesitant about coming solo.
