Drawing on texts from diverse cultures and faith traditions, Jenkins weaves a rich tapestry of sound that is both timeless and urgently relevant, inviting audiences to reflect on the cost of violence and the enduring possibility of peace.Under the direction of The Geelong Chorale, this performance brings together choir, soloists, and instrumental forces to create an immersive and emotionally resonant experience. From moments of haunting stillness to powerful, full-voiced intensity, the work unfolds with cinematic scope and spiritual depth, leaving a lasting impression long after the final note.
The Geelong Chorale was honoured to present the Australian premiere of The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins in 2007. Commissioned for the centenary of the Royal Armouries, this powerful and moving work has become a modern choral classic, performed more than 3,000 times worldwide.
