Curious about tugs?

About
Tugs are critical in assisting ship manoeuvres in and out of ports, and without them, ports would need to be significantly larger.
This PIANC WA Chapter event will help you get clued up on your tug and towage knowledge. You'll learn about what tugs are for, types of tugs, and how they are used in a port context.
This event will be hosted by HR Wallingford at its Australia Ship Simulation Centre in Fremantle, with a presentation from global towage consultant, SeaWays Advisory. We will discuss the latest tug technology and a new class of tug driving the industry forward - a world first and deployed in Australia.
Following the presentation, the simulator bridges will be available for you to get hands-on driving different tugs, with attending tug masters to give you guidance. HR Wallingford will also be showing off its two new simulators, recently completed, bringing the total full-sized simulation bridges to seven.
Drinks and nibbles will be provided at the simulation centre facility.
