Online gambling marketing and the risks to young people

The Department of Justice and Community Safety has supported the Digital Youth project led by Professor Kathryn Backholer from the Deakin University Institute of Health Transformation.The 3-year research project aimed to capture, analyse and monitor unhealthy online advertising to young people about foods, alcohol, gambling, tobacco, and vapes.
The project is a collaboration of several public health agencies including Cancer Council Victoria and the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation.
Findings from the study will be presented at this webinar on Thursday 30 April 2026.
