Social Role Valorisation
About
Join Jill Mason for an engaging workshop on Social Role Valorisation (SRV)—a practical framework that helps us create better lives for people with disabilities by supporting them into meaningful, valued roles in their communities.SRV, developed by Dr. Wolf Wolfensberger, recognises that people who are marginalised or devalued often face limited opportunities simply because of how society perceives them. By intentionally helping individuals take on valued roles—such as student, employee, neighbour, friend, or volunteer—we strengthen their identity, increase their chances of inclusion, and open the door to the “good things in life”: respect, belonging, contribution, and genuine connection.
In this workshop, Jill will show how supporting your consumer to step into valued social roles they can enhance social acceptance, reduce stigma, and open the door to the ‘good things in life’—connection, contribution, respect, and a genuine sense of belonging.
Perfect for disability workers, coordinators, or families.
Please note:
Attendance at this training is voluntary and staff will not be paid to attend. If you are hoping to attend during your work hours, you will need to discuss this with your coordinator or employer to see if arrangements can be agreed.
