Intergenerational programs in aged care: How to set it up
About
Intergenerational programs are programs which bring people from different generations together to participate in purposeful activities that are beneficial to all involved. The aim is to reconnect generations that may have lost touch. For older people, the programs have had a positive impact on their health and well-being with enjoyment and improved mood, and for children there has been an increase in confidence and communication skills. Frailty, cognitive impairment, depression, loneliness are all major issues for older people, significantly affecting quality of life, and finding ways to address these in a positive and acceptable way is extremely important as the older population grows
