Expressions of Interest invited from home-schoolers to be part of this exciting event. Kids learn a very useful and practical skill, learn to work in teams, exercise creativity, trouble-shooting and of course have fun and push themselves physically. Kids must be fairly independent, able to tie simple knots, and be able to exert sufficient strength to pull things reasonably tightly. As a guide, ages 9+.
This is just an expression of interest. There is no payment nor commitment required.
Overview:-
1. Whole-day event:- 9am - 430pm (one day)
2. Sometime in August, September or October
3. Instruction in tying common knots for pioneering, and other uses
4. BYO lunch or catered
5. Building projects
6. Rope, poles and other hardware provided.
7. Kids to bring their own cotton gloves, and a healthy dose of a "can-do" attitude
8. Costs: $50-$80 /child (to be confirmed)
9. Volunteers needed! If you'd like to be a parent volunteer, to help guide our kids, please indicate in the booking form.
About me:-
I am a father to two home-schooled boys. I am also an ex-Rover Scout with scouting qualifications in pioneering. I also have a WWC check certificate. I do not claim to be an expert in all things pioneering but am happy to teach and pass on some skills to kids who share the same passion in working with our hands and value teamwork in order to build things we can be proud of. Fees charged go to hiring an outdoor venue, insurance, equipment and administrative costs.
Upper Room Learning Collective Inc was created to organise and deliver meaningful structured programs for home-schooled kids - all not-for-profit.
