Supporting Neurodivergent Children in Community Sport
About
Are you involved in junior sport? Have you ever wished you had a few more strategies up your sleeve to help you connect and support all players on the team? Do you want to know more about autism, ADHD, neurodivergence and how your club can be more inclusive? This FREE 2.5 hour workshop will help community sports clubs and physical activity providers gain an understanding of how neurodivergent children may experience participation in community sport, and provide strategies to clubs around ways they can create an inclusive and safe environment for their neurodivergent members. This interactive workshop is a neuro-affirming session, co-designed and facilitated by people with lived experience.
The workshop will include a guided club self assessment, and will cover topics such as understanding neurodiversity, sensory processing differences, common barriers to participation and strategies to address these barriers. Participants will be provided with resources, such as electronic templates and written educational resources, and will walk away with strategies they can put in place immediately to make their club more inclusive to neurodivergent kids in their community.
The workshop will be offered three times to ensure all interested clubs and individuals have the opportunity to attend.
