Hot Jazz from the 1920s, 30s and 40s that was performed by Louis Armstrong, King Oliver, Sidney Bechet, amongst many other luminaries of the golden era of Jazz, is music that will keep your toes tapping.
Join world class Paul Williams on Saxophone and Clarinet, David Burrows, sizzling Guitarist, Jo Bloomfield, admired as one of Queensland’s foremost Pianists of Hot Jazz and Boogie Woogie, Peter Freeman’s driving bass, John Braben’s Hot Trumpet and the bold interpretations and emotive stage presence of vocalist Grace Rigby.
You are treated to Red Hot traditional and mainstream jazz played with plenty of passion, skill and respect for the originals.
An afternoon of hot jolly jazz awaits. You will be hard pressed to keep your feet still.

To enjoy your concert experience here are a few things to know:
- Seating is at allocated tables with chairs and some chairs at the back of the room without tables.
- There are seats in the Mezzanine area upstairs and if booking this area please note that there is no lift for upstairs access.
- The Majestic Theatre offers a full bar service and some light snacks such as chocolates and crisps.
- You are welcome to bring your own snacks but please note this is a licensed venue and bringing alcohol is not permitted.
Meet the Musicians
Guest Vocalist - Grace Rigby
Her dazzling interpretations and emotive stage presence has made Grace a standout performer with the University of Queensland Big band and the Braben-Jenner Hot Five.


Paul Williams
A leading Traditional and Mainstream musician regarded as one of the most complete and versatile Reeds jazz musicians in Australia. Paul started playing in England at 11 years of age and toured professionally at 16 years. He has toured through Europe, Greece and Turkey playing on US military bases and cruise ships until eventually settling in Australia in 1972. Paul has supported Cilla Black, Al Martino, Gene Pitney and Nelson Riddle to name a few.
David Burroughs
David is an acclaimed Queensland guitarist and an accomplished luthier, selling his much-in-demand instruments to guitarists around Australia. He has entertained Noosa and the Sunshine Coast audiences at festivals and concerts for over 30 years. Today he is performing on one of his own beautifully crafted guitars.
Jo Bloomfield
Jo started studying piano at the age of six, however her jazz career started with the formation of the Vintage Jazz and Blues Band (Brisbane) in 1973. She has been a regular participant at the annual Noosa Jazz Party since its inception in 1993. Jo's musicianship covers Traditional and Swing Jazz, 60's Pop and Rock and here Boogie Woogie palying is legendary.
Peter Freeman
Peter Freeman is an Associate Lecturer at the UQ School of Music with ongoing interests in the music of Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim, jazz music, technology and popular music. He is a high quality on-call bass player for many local jazz groups and the arranger and co-ordinator of the Tropical Dance Orchestra.
John Braben
John Braben is one of Australia's leading players of the 'hot jazz' style. His biting tone and straight ahead, always tasteful, accurate lead and his exciting and creative solos are always a highlight of his musicianship. His influences were the early New Orleans and Chicago bands and, of course, individual trumpeters/cornetists such as Louis Armstrong and Bix Beiderbecke.
