Blackbirds FC are bringing their south of the river sounds back to the Merri Creek Tavernfor their first show on 2026.
Featuring members of The Hollowmen, Helvelln, and The Vandas, Blackbirds FC play a
fusion of alt.country and indie rock inspired by the Go-Betweens, The Church, and Paul
Kelly.
The band released their third LP Desire Lines last year, combining all their strengths –
hook-laden melodies, ringing guitars, and vocal harmonies. Warmly received with airplay
across the country, the new record channels literate indie pop and art rock creating a vivid,
compelling and uniquely Australian musical landscape.
Joining them are Fallow Fields, a captivating husband-and-wife songwriting duo from the
misty hills of Victoria’s Dandenong Ranges. Blending country-tinged harmonies with raw,
honest storytelling, their songs explore the full spectrum of human experience, with a
vulnerability that is as brave as it is beautiful.
