This concert invites audiences on a captivating journey through 200 years of rich Russian culture. The program is a vibrant tapestry woven with timeless expressions of emotion, featuring passionate love songs, exhilarating traditional dances, and a selection of recent favorites that showcase the enduring legacy and evolving spirit of Russian artistic heritage.The program will include: Waltz from Eugene Onegin and Dance Russe from The Nutcracker (Tchaikovsky), Lara's Theme from Doctor Zhivago (Jarre), Troika from Lieutenant Kije Suite (Prokofiev), On the Steppes of Central Asia and Polovtsian Dances (Borodin), Waltz of the Cornflowers and Poppies (Glazunov), and Pavane for a Dead Infant (Faure).
In this concert Orchestra Concertino welcomes its maestro for 2026: Weihang Li is an accomplished conductor, violinist, and music educator whose artistry combines precision, imagination, and emotional depth. With more than a decade of experience leading orchestras and ensembles across Australia and beyond, he is recognised for his ability to bring out expressive unity and musical insight in every performance.
