Forro - Roots Style

In the world of Brazilian dance, if Samba is the queen then Forró is the king!

Forró is a partner dance with a number of styles from different regions in Brazil. The two most prominent styles are Universitário which is led mainly with hands, and Roots which is led mainly with body and leg movements.

Forró Roots is a new style of forró that began at forró events in Itaúnas/ES around the 2010s. It introduces intrinsic and complex leg movements, mostly originating and modified from Tango and Samba de Gafieira. It is danced to older style and traditional forró songs that go back to Rootstock forró festivals and similar events.

Roots style has subtle leads, dynamic and playful movements, and is generally danced to faster forró music. Maintaining body connection with your partner & holding your balance is a vital aspect - akin to Tango and Samba de Gafieira.

SESSION 2 2026 - DETAILS

Session 2 runs for 8 weeks on each Wednesday 6:45pm to 8:45pm - strict end at 9:00pm

• First 2 classes - 25/Mar and 1/Apr
• BREAK on 8/Apr after Easter
• Next 6 classes - 15/Apr to 20/May

The Schedule is:

• 6:45pm to 7:15pm - FREE Forró Roots class (30 mins)
• 7:15pm to 7:30pm - FREE Practice for all (15 mins)
• 7:30pm to 8:45pm - Ticketed - MAIN Forró Roots class (1 hr 15 mins)
• 8:45pm to 9:00pm - FREE Practice for all (15 mins)

SESSION 2 - LESSON FEES / TICKETS:

Please read the following carefully and ask us any questions you might have before purchasing a ticket!

These tickets are only required for participation in the Main Class!

SINGLE PASS: Forró Roots single class fee $25

TERM PASS: Forró Roots full term fee $150 - 8 classes for the price of 6

DOOR FEE: There is a flat fee of $30 for attendance without registration.
