About

The School of Education is delighted to invite you to this Twilight Seminar - Primary Media Arts in an AI World: Cultivating Critical Media Inquiry, Literacy and Agency from the Early Years.

In today’s AI-driven media landscape, Media Arts is no longer optional, it’s essential. This practical, classroom-ready session will show how Media Arts can be effectively taught across all years of WA primary schooling in ways that are achievable, engaging, and aligned to real classroom contexts. Grounded in the WA The Arts Curriculum, Media Arts equips students to understand how images and stories shape meaning, influence audiences, and represent the world while building creativity, critical thinking, and student agency.

Delivered in partnership with ATOM WA, this Twilight draws on sector expertise to support teachers at every stage of their Media Arts journey, from first steps to deeper integration. ATOM WA is actively working with pilot schools and developing adaptable, high-quality classroom resources to support implementation.

All participants will receive a complimentary Media Arts Resource Pack, including a teacher prompt card featuring powerful inquiry questions to use immediately in the classroom:

  • Who made this?
  • What choices were made?
  • How does it position me?
  • What is missing?

Leave with practical strategies, ready-to-use resources, and the confidence to bring Media Arts to life in your classroom.

Cost: $10 includes light refreshments

Registrations and light refreshments will be from 4.00pm, the seminar will start at 4.30pm.

Certificate of participation available on request.

This event is FREE for ECU Staff and Students; please contact us for a discount code.
