The Beez with Steel City Sue (trio) at Bar Solè, Newcastle
About
The Beez and Steel City Sue join forces for a double bill of teutonically epic proportions at Newcastle's fabulous Bar Solè.Once Berliners, now Australian residents, Deta C. Rayner (accordion, keyboard, vocals) and Rob Rayner (guitar, vocals) present a bitingly satirical but eminently danceable wealth of genre-bending original material from the sublime to the ridiculous, with Deta’s bass baritone accordion and vamp-flavoured vocals front and centre. Road tested on three recent European tours, The Beez will finally be bringing their new album, “Fahrradkette” (bicycle chain!?), to Australia, a dizzying pastiche of comedy and music. The Beez in one word? “Prost!"
Steel City Sue is a folk-americana outfit – known for ardent originals that tell the stories of Newcastle & the Hunter Valley, along with a tasty mix of raucous rags & old-timey roots. Also be prepared for ridiculous jingles like how to indicate correctly on a roundabout.
The trio features fiddle, banjo, accordion, double bass and guitar twang.
Sue is just back from recording a new album in Wales with old friends Mike & Katie West (Truckstop Honeymoon) and this show will feature fresh songs from the new album being released in May.
