Ride For Wildlife
About
The recent fires in the Carlisle River and Gellibrand areas have destroyed property and injured wildlife in the area. The Carlisle River Wildlife Shelter was impacted by these fires with many of it's animal shelters damaged or destroyed by the fires. Carlisle River Wildlife Shelter is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned wildlife and receives no government funding. This ride aims to raise funds to assist the shelter in rebuilding and care for injured and displaced wildlife from the fires. It also will visit some of the local tourist businesses along the route to inject some much needed money into the local economy which suffered as a result of the fires. With stops in Forrest and Gellibrand, riders have the chance to eat and drink at places such as the Forrest Brewery, Forrest General Store, Gellibrand River General Store and The Gellibrand Pub.
100% of proceeds will go to the Carlisle River Wildlife Shelter.
There will be two rides on the day, a morning ride heading from Gellibrand to Forrest and then back to Gellibrand via Lardner's Track. Lunch will be at The Gellibrand Hotel then for those wanting to ride further there will be and afternoon loop starting and finishing in Gellibrand.
It is a social ride aimed at raising funds not seeing how fast people can get around the courses.
