Gods of the Theatre
About
7 scenes from 6 classic playwrights of the 20th century - Oscar Wilde, George Bernard Shaw, Samuel Beckett, Arthur Miller and Tennessee Williams. Presented by students in the Diploma of Theatre Arts, Melbourne Polytechnic, and Diplomas of Live Production, Costume and Specialist Makeup. Join us for a ride through the work of famous British, Irish and American 'gods' of the theatre, through comedy and tragedy.
Identity, romance, friendship, hopes and dreams of a better future infuse these plays with characters searching for their place in the world. Is what they seek an illusion, or a real possibility? Light-hearted, darkly comic, satirical and … earnest, these playwrights hold the mirror up to the changing world and society of the early 20th century.
