Sometimes, its the deep conversations, around the fire late at night, that weave the bits of gold that carry us back into our daily routines.
Luke and Bec love to muse on death, dying, community and the world in which we navigate it all.
For one night only, they will be in conversation as the wine flows and curiosity grows.
Come get yourself a drink and be a part of a night spent musing on death. Luke and Bec will discuss all the things they think and rarely get to say; space, place, bodies, death, dying, funerals... nothing is off limits. And if you're brave, join the conversation because that is where the magic really happens... In fact, you could set the agenda. Come with your questions and topics you've always wanted to discuss.

About us -

Luke a Director of Alluvium Water Cremations and an advocate for death literacy in Tasmania, Luke approaches end-of-life care through a lens of careful philosophical inquiry. His work asks us to reframe mortality — viewing the conscious awareness of our own end not as a burden, but as a profound human privilege. Because we are uniquely capable of understanding our own impermanence, Luke believes our approach to death holds up an unflinching mirror against how we choose to live. Through his advocacy, he challenges us to engage fully in conversations about legacy, relationships, community and environment, using our awareness of the end to cultivate a life of deep intention even, and perhaps especially, when this seems out of reach.

Bec is an independent funeral director, end of life doula, author, death-care educator and advocate. She is the co-founder of Solace End of Life Services. Bec has spent many years in and around the funeral industry, connecting with traditions overseas and researching ways in which we can improve outcomes for people in Australia. She firmly believes in sharing knowledge, that funeral directors should go back to being undertakers and that the human capacity to care for each other in death is nestled deep within our bones. Her book, ‘A Heartfelt Undertaking’, looks at some of her research from a Churchill Fellowship, and her TEDx Talk on home funerals calls for the redefining of everything we know about funeral. She has been the President of the Natural Death Advocacy Network (NDAN) since 2020 and remains the founding President of the Australian Home Funeral Alliance (AHFA).
