Meditation and Scripture: ancient wisdom, new understanding

This one-hour online seminar provides an introduction to meditating in the Christian tradition, with an emphasis on the ancient scriptural call to ‘love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength’ (Deut 6:5, Mk 12:30, Matt 22:37, and Lk 10:27).* Participants will engage with and break open the Christian contemplative approach to prayer
* They will explore Scripture in order to build their understanding and strengthen their connection to God.
* They will experience Christian contemplative prayer as practised in the Catholic/Christian tradition.
This online seminar, sponored by the Sisters of Our Lady of Sion, Australia, will be led by experienced meditation facilitator Lisa Hughes, who has been working in the Catholic Education sector across the dioceses of Australia for the last thirty years. Her roles at Catholic Education Melbourne and Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools over the past ten years have involved working with senior leaders of Catholic identity, religious leadership, wellbeing, policy and learning and teaching. Her areas of expertise and focus are on meditation, identity, gender and sexuality within a faith formation context.
