Lectures on Tap @ The Gov (SOLD OUT)

Lectures on Tap @ The Gov (SOLD OUT)

About

If you're a fiend for a YouTube video with your dinner, or are simply looking for a different way to get out of the house and learn something new to aid your cool Aunt/Uncle lore, this is made for you.

Inspired by the original Lectures on Tap over in America, this activation brings industry experts into bars to give talks about their research. Think two 25-minute talks with a break in between, giving you plenty of time to head to the bar for another pint or a spot of dinner.

Held in the iconic Gov, you're sure to enjoy some good vibes before and after the talks. This particular activation is ideal for introverts, curious minds, or people just looking for something different on a Wednesday night. Below, you'll find details about the talks being discussed and the people giving them.

"Psychological insights and interventions on (mis)information" by Dr Natasha van Antwerpen
The World Economic Forum recently named misinformation, false or misleading claims, as a leading global threat. At the same time, people are finding it increasingly difficult to tell apart true and false information, reporting lower trust in journalists and mainstream media. From the University of Adelaide, Dr Van Antwerpen tells us how how psychology can contribute to understanding responses to misinformation, including its connections to societal attitudes and ways we can address it. She will also speak about constructive journalism, which applies psychological theory and insight to news production, with an aim to produce news that is less misleading, more responsible, and less anxiety and depression invoking.

"The Science of Sleep" by Dr Charlotte Gupta
One of the most essential and fundimental of human needs, Dr Gupta walks us through the age-old questions of why we sleep, what really happens in our brains and bodies overnight, and how poor sleep impacts everything. You’ll also pick up practical tips to improve your nightly routine and separate fact from fiction as we bust some of the most popular sleep myths trending on social media.
