Strathmore Secondary College Presents Last Words & Matilda
About
Join us for a special double-feature production celebrating the power of imagination, resilience, and finding your voice. Across two unique acts, audiences will experience Last Words, an original play brought to life by our senior students, alongside a junior musical adaptation of the beloved Roald Dahl classic, Matilda.Act 1 – Last Words
A struggling writer is unable to complete the three novels he has been working on: a gripping whodunnit, a chilling supernatural horror, and a sweeping adventure story. Each reflect a different side of his imagination and yet all remain frustratingly incomplete as his self-doubt and creative block continue to grow.
When a personal tragedy strikes, he falls into an even deeper slump, abandoning his writing and withdrawing from the world around him. With the encouragement of loved ones, and the lingering presence of the characters from his unfinished stories, he slowly begins to confront his grief and rediscover the passion that once drove him.
Act 2 – Matilda the Musical Jr.
Matilda Wormwood is no ordinary girl. She’s brilliant, brave, and full of imagination. Misunderstood by her parents and trapped in a school ruled by the terrifying Miss Trunchbull, Matilda finds a kindred spirit in her gentle teacher, Miss Honey.
With courage, heart, and a little mischief, she shows everyone that intelligence and kindness can triumph over even the toughest obstacles—and discovers the true power of her own voice.
