Arete Music’s brand new “Singer Sandbox” performance practice events are for the classical singing community! These Monday night sessions aim to connect trained singers, young and old, enabling ideas and experience to be shared across town, across studios, and across genres.
What happens at Singer Sandbox?
Perform or observe... either way, the focus is on sharing ideas with others. Sessions will be facilitated using a structured response process, giving performers control over the feedback they receive and allowing for in-depth group discussion.

To reserve your seat, select the date on the calendar. To express interest in performing, just email a clear PDF of your sheet music at least 3 weeks prior, to team@arete.music. For maximum benefit to all, there's a limit of four performer slots per event, so get in early. Confirmation of singers (including reserves) will be sent out at least 2 weeks prior.
What should I sing?
Classical pieces - including opera, oratorio, operetta, art songs, lieder, mélodie and "legit" musical theatre numbers. Get together with friends to sing a duet or ensemble! Not sure? Ask us by emailing team@arete.music
Who is Arete Music? A brand-spanking new venture – a partnership of Ella Luhtasaari and Dr Sarah Mann who have been collaborating onstage and producing professional classical singers together at ANU for the past 5 years. With over 30 years combined experience in high level tutoring, performing and researching, they are keen to attract like-minded musicians and performing artists to come on board.
