Introducing Arete Music’s brand new “Singer Sandbox” events for the classical singing community! These Monday night sessions aim to connect trained singers, enabling ideas and experience to be shared across town, across studios, and across genres.
The inaugural May 4th event doubles as a launch-party for Arete Music - a new venture dedicated to high-level performance practice, filling the gap left by our tertiary institutions. (See arete.music).
What happens at Singer Sandbox?
Perform or just observe... either way, the focus is on sharing ideas with others. Discussion will be facilitated using a structured response process, giving performers control over the feedback they receive and allowing for in-depth discussion as a group.
To reserve your seat, select a date. To sing, just email a clear PDF of your sheet music at least 2-3 weeks prior, to team@arete.music
What should I sing?
Classical pieces! Including opera, oratorio, operetta, art songs, lieder, mélodie and "legit" musical theatre numbers. Get together with friends to sing a duet or ensemble! Not sure? Ask us by emailing team@arete.music
Who is Arete Music? This is a brand-spanking new venture – a partnership of Ella Luhtasaari and Sarah Mann who have been collaborating onstage and producing professional classical singers together at ANU for the past 5 years. With over 30 years combined experience in high level tutoring, performing and researching, they are keen to attract like-minded musicians and performing artists to come on board.
