2 Day Dementia Essentials Training Course
About
This nationally accredited free 2-day course is designed to assist workers supporting people living with dementia. Strategies are explored to assist with good communication, planning, developing appropriate activities and understanding behaviour in people living with dementia.Topics include:
• Person-centred care
• The nature and progression of dementia
• Effective communication
• Impact of dementia on people living with dementia and their families
• Activities for engagement
• Effective use of Assistive Technologies
• Legal and ethical considerations
• Identifying elder abuse and restrictive practices
• Understanding changed behaviour and developing effective responses.
Dates & Times:
Monday 6th July - 10am to 5 pm
Tuesday 7th July - 9am to 4pm
You must do both days to complete the course.
It is also essential that you are able to complete a practical component for dementia patients.
