Online 'Herding Snails' Advanced PDA for Professionals

Herding Snails is an advanced, practical two-day workshop.If PDA 101 explains what it is,
this workshop focuses on how to actually do it.
This is not theory.
This is real-life application.
Using the metaphor of the snail we will explore:
- reducing escalation
- understanding behaviour as protection
- supporting everyday life
- creating the conditions that make engagement possible
- understanding the impact of cognitive profiles WIPSII, WISC and Vineland scores will be unpacked
IMPORTANT – TWO-DAY WORKSHOP
This workshop runs across both days (1 & 2 June).
Attendance on both days is required.
Day 1 - builds understanding and reframing.
Day 2 - focuses on application and implementation.

What we will cover
- behaviour as protection (the shell)
- understanding what behaviour leaves behind (the trail)
- conditions and capacity
- navigating daily life (meals, mornings, hygiene, transitions)
- after-school collapse and recovery
- communication strategies
- responding to escalation
- how our child processes information and how to respond to their unique profile
- parent burnout and sustainability
This is a deep, immersive workshop and you will benefit from having someone to process and reflect with.
We will run optional breakout rooms during break times if you would to connect with other online attendees
Prerequisite (Important)
This is an advanced workshop.
You must have prior knowledge of PDA through:
- previous workshops
- training
- reading
- PDA 101 (recommended)
A PDA 101 recording link will be provided once your registration has been recieved.
This is not a “what is PDA” workshop.
This is a “how to get through everyday life” workshop.

You cannot herd a snail through force.
You can only create the conditions that make movement possible.

This is not a PDA 101 workshop.
This is a workshop where we will get into the nitty gritty of living with the challenges related to this profile and there is a prerequisite to attend the workshop of previously attending a PDA 101 workshop or watching it online.
