Ask Izzy Connect-Hardship & Vulnerability Awareness Training
About
In the Ask Izzy Connect Hardship and Vulnerability Awareness Training we will cover:1. Recognising people experiencing vulnerability and hardship. During this segment, we focus on understanding what vulnerability is, identifying its signs, and learning how it affects individuals’ ability to cope with stress. We'll discuss the importance of avoiding assumptions, maintaining an open mindset, looking beneath the surface of someone’s presentation, and picking up on subtle cues.
2. How to respond to someone who shares something challenging with you. This part emphasises responding with empathy and compassion, understanding what to say to support someone, managing your own mindset, and having effective conversations. We also cover exploring people’s mindsets during challenging times and understanding your boundaries and responsibilities in your role.
3. How to refer people to appropriate support and professional help using tools such as Ask Izzy. Here, we focus on how and when to refer people, the tools available, practical tips, and the language to use when making referrals.
4. Reflecting on your interactions and protecting your mental health and well-being. This includes understanding the importance of reflection, knowing what to do if you feel overwhelmed, recognising vicarious trauma, being aware of burnout and stress, and seeking support from your organisation.
