Each of us is born into a culture and a community; a group of people with shared history, spaces and language. Our cultural heritage influences how we think, understand and communicate with each other. It provides our sense of identity and belonging and can evoke strong emotions, memories and a sense of connection.During this workshop you will be invited to draw on the rhythms, sounds and imagery of your cultural heritage to create unique, authentic characters and settings that are evocative and memorable. How has your cultural heritage changed you and shaped your life?

About the Workshop Leader - Sue Gunningham:
Sue Gunningham was a teacher and lecturer and is an avid writer across all genres. Her articles, poems, short stories and monologues have appeared in newspapers, magazines and anthologies. Sue regularly delivers workshops and author talks across Victoria.
Her personal passion is memoir writing and Sue’s had two full length memoirs published ‘All the days After’(2015) and ‘Waldene: Love in the Shadows’ (2020). She is currently working on a third memoir about growing up in the melting pot of Northcote in the 1950s.
