About
Based upon and adapted from the book Ladies of Letters by Carole Hayman and Lou Wakefield, Stationery Lives tells the story of Vera Small and Irene Spencer, who continually strive to outdo each other, whether with recipes, their homes, holiday destinations, friends and relationships, or who has the best grandchildren. The lack of insight and constant one-up-manship of the two main characters as they correspond over the years provide constant humour (and sometime cringing when one recognises we all do it!), but there also tends to be a somewhat deeper and serious theme that lurks just beneath the humour at the way these two women interact and are treated by their families, especially children, and how much they actually need each other.Dates
