The Brisbane City Pops Orchestra is excited to present our second concert series for 2026 entitled - Once Upon a Tune. Experience the magic of stories expressed in music when we play In the Hall of the Mountain King by Grieg, the beautiful Adagio from Spartacus by Khachaturian, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy from Tchaikovsky's ballet The Nutcracker and Offenbach's Overture to Orpheus in the Underworld. Hear Ron Hanmer's medley of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Greatest Hits, John Barry's theme from Born Free and music from Lord of the Rings. Our guest artist is baritone, Daniel Smerdon, performing such favourites as I am a Pirate King from the Pirates of Penzance, the comic Catalogue Aria from Don Giovanni by Mozart and the Toreador's Song from Carmen by Bizet. And get ready for the exciting jazz standard, Golden Wedding, featuring our own Geoff Secomb on clarinet and Denis Fisher on drums. Our conductor is the wonderful Chen Yang who will also play the Gypsy melody Hejre Kati (Pretty Kati).
