✨ The Wild Women of Anywhere Beach🌴Ukulele Workshop!
About
The Northern Beaches Ukulele Group is pleased to welcome back Cathy Welsford and Angie Smith, "The Wild Women of Anywhere Beach", for another fun and engaging ukulele workshop! In this 2 hour session, you will learn and explore two iconic songs from different eras — Hernando’s Hideaway (1954) and When You Walk in the Room (1963) — each chosen for their specific learning intentions (and because they are great fun songs to play!).
🎵 The first song, Hernando’s Hideaway - is a chance to build your Latin‑style strumming through:
- a rasgueado‑inspired down‑strum
- a chord hammer‑on technique
- optional short TAB instrumental lines
- light harmonies to enrich the arrangement
** Cathy and Angie have been performing this piece for over 20 years, and they’ll break it down in a clear, achievable way.
🎵The second song, When You Walk in the Room, adds another set of skills, including:
- a recognisable riff used as the intro and throughout the song
- rhythmic, engaging strumming
- well‑known, common chords that feel comfortable under the fingers
🎶 Who this workshop is for:
This session is ideal for ALL level players from confident beginners through to experienced players who are looking to:
- expand and improve their strumming skills
- add expressive techniques to their playing
- learn riffs and small instrumental touches to add interest and variety to their playing
