Pyrography for Beginners with Shahnaz Alizadeh
About
Presented by Murray Arts and Crafts, join us for a three hour subsidised Community Workshop suitable for all skill levels. Shahnaz is an artist who has been exploring the art of pyrography for 10 years. The term means "writing with fire", from the Greek pyr (fire) and graphos (writing). It can be practiced using specialized modern pyrography tools, or using a metal implement heated in a fire, or even sunlight concentrated with a magnifying lens. Pyrography dates from the 17th century and reached its highest standard in the 19th century.Shahnaz enjoys experimenting with local timber and draws Portraits, Pet Portraits, Patterns, Wildlife and Landscapes.
During the workshop, you’ll be guided step by step through the process of transferring your chosen design onto plywood, outlining, adding details and shading using a wood burning kit, and finishing with optional colour using watercolour pencils before varnishing.
All the required materials are provided by the tutor, with no additional costs.
Shahnaz will also supply a variety of designs for participants to choose from.
