About

The Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) is one of the oldest and largest annual events of its kind, designed to foster a love for mathematics and challenge students from Years 3 to 12. Run by the Australian Maths Trust (AMT), the competition focuses on problem-solving and critical thinking rather than just routine calculation. The assessment consists of 30 problems—25 multiple-choice and 5 integer-based questions—that progressively increase in difficulty, allowing students of all levels to test their skills while providing a platform for high achievers to excel on a national stage.

Our studio recommends using the AMC, especially the first 25 questions, to assess students’ daily learning. A Distinction (D) or High Distinction (HD) in Years 7–10 reflects strong mathematical ability and is often used by schools to determine eligibility for accelerated or advanced math classes. A small number of top performers in the Years 5–6 or 7–8 divisions (typically Prize winners with near-perfect scores) may be invited by the Australian Maths Trust (AMT) to join the AIMO, the selection pathway for the national Olympiad team.

澳洲数学竞赛（Australian Mathematics Competition, 简称 AMC）是全球历史最悠久、规模最大的数学竞赛之一，旨在激发 3 至 12 年级学生对数学的热爱并提升其逻辑挑战能力。该赛事由澳洲数学信托基金会（Australian Maths Trust, 简称 AMT）主办，侧重于考察解决问题的能力和批判性思维，而非单纯的公式计算。竞赛共包含 30 道题目（25 道选择题和 5 道填空题），难度循序渐进，既能让不同水平的学生检验自身能力，也为顶尖选手提供了一个展示才华、脱颖而出的国家级平台。

澳大利亚最为普及和权威的数学竞赛，很多重视学术的私校和公校会推荐所有学生参加。我们工作室建议学生用AMC作为日常学习的检验，尤其是前25题的正确率。AMC到7-10年级HD或者D能体现学生的数学基础和能力，很多学校用这个成绩来决定是否提前学习中数或者是否可以选择高数。少数5-6年级和7-8年级的学生取得优异成绩后会被AMT邀请参加AIMO，也就是澳洲奥林匹克数学集训队的选拔赛，走上真正的奥数之路。

In accordance with the official requirements of the AMT (Australian Maths Trust), the competition will be conducted in-person within a classroom setting via the official online testing system. Students must bring their own laptop or iPad to the testing center to access the examination portal.
