Together - Practicing The Presence of GodAs part of our Spiritual Growth Pillar, we are holding a parish retreat at the beautiful FootHills conference centre in Mooroolbark, Victoria. Our entire parish family is invited and encouraged to set aside what we might normally do on a long weekend to be together in this special season of renewal and revitalisation for our parish. We’re believing this will be a significant moment in the life of our church, and that there is something powerful in choosing to gather, to prioritise community, and to seek God together. Every person matters, and it would mean so much to have you there.
The venue we have chosen enhances our ability to relax, recharge and focus on God and is close enough that its easy to get to.
The intent is that our whole parish family is involved and that everyone attends the full program, arriving after dinner for a 7pm start on Friday 5 June and finishing up after lunch on Sunday 7 June. Accommodation and all meals are included as well as our use of the auditorium, meeting rooms and the grounds. We’re really hopeful everyone can make it!
The Saturday sessions will offer a variety of times of musical worship, learning, reflection and formation activities to deepen our experience of the presence of God. We will spend time in smaller groups and in individual reflection and contemplation. There will be time on Saturday afternoon for some R&R or exercise or just to enjoy the beautiful natural setting.
On Friday night we will hear from our new Archbishop Ric, and Louise Thorpe. On Saturday and Sunday sessions will include facilitated larger group time and then small group sessions and time of personal reflection and contemplation. We will worship together and pray together,
As we spend time pressing into the presence of God we will consider questions of
- Where am I at with God and how am I making time to listen?
- How has listening to God directed my faith and life journey?
- What things in my life have impacted my faith journey?
- What might God asking me to do right now?
- How do we enable the presence of God to permeate our community?
- What might be holding people back from experiencing the presence of God?
