MakerSpace Access: Equipment Bookings

The Gosford Regional Library (GRL) MakerSpace in partnership with the University of Newcastle is a self‑led creative space where participants independently use specialist equipment to work on their own projects. Equipment bookings take place during MakerSpace Access opening hours (during the University Semester), with staff present to oversee safety and provide general guidance.// Requirements
To book and use equipment in the GRL MakerSpace, participants must meet the following requirements:
- Aged 16 years or older (photo ID required)
- Valid Library membership (free to join)
- Enclosed shoes worn at all times
- Completed MakerSpace safety induction (annually)
Safety inductions are mandatory, can be booked online, or can be completed in your equipment booking timeframe.
// MakerSpace Access and Booking Sessions
Equipment bookings are only available during MakerSpace Access opening hours:
- Bookings are 2‑hour sessions:
a) Session 1 - 10am to 12pm
b) Sesson 2 - 1pm to 3pm

The following equipment can be booked online, subject to availability and maintenance:
a) 3D Printers
Bambu Lab: H2C, H2D, X1C, P1S
File format: STL files
Timeframe: 5-hour prints
Software: Bambu Studio for slicing and Tinkercad for design
Materials: Only PLA filament supplied by the MakerSpace may be used
b) Textile and Sewing Machines
Brother Sewing Machines (NV1300, NV1300Q)
Brother Overlocker CN3550 Coverstitch
Brother 800E Embroidery Machine
c) Vinyl Cutting Machines

// Drop‑In Equipment (No Booking Required)
During MakerSpace Access opening hours, a selection of tools is available for drop‑in use, subject to space capacity. These include:
- Hot tools such as irons, EasyPress and glue guns
- General workshop and hand tools
- Hand textile and craft tools
- Badge making equipment
- Art and drawing materials
Drop‑in tools are available on a first‑come, first‑served basis.
// Consumables and Materials
Consumables are available to use and purchase during your session. You may also bring your own materials with staff approval (no electrical equipment). Available consumables include a limited range of vinyl and iron on materials, paper and card stock, textile materials and general craft and adhesive supplies.
