The BoƮte presents Voices of the Earth | Matsudo Week
The Brandon Lee Koto Ensemble joins forces with internationally renowned shakuhachi performer, vocalist, improviser and composer, Anne Norman (shakuhachi) to present an evening filled with exquisite music on Friday, 15th May.
In The Boite's ongoing collaboration with Box Hill Community Arts Centre, Voices of the Earth marks the longstanding Sister City relationship between the City of Whitehorse and Matsudo in Japan.
Voices of the Earth celebrates two instruments that come from the earth. The shakuhachi made from the bamboo stem at the point where it enters the ground, and the timber koto, originally strung with silk, offer a variety of works ranging from traditional pieces to contemporary work by Japanese and Australian composers.
Supported by the City of Whitehorse.
