1915 - The Untold Story
1915: The Untold Story
In Hills Youth Theatre’s 40th anniversary year, our 2026 Seniors return to one of HYT’s most powerful works: 1915: The Untold Story, written by former Seniors tutor Karen Houghton and directed by current Seniors tutors and past students Ben Proeve and Harri Wolff.
Set in the Adelaide Hills during the First World War, the play follows the Green family, their neighbours and friends as their quiet community is shaken by enlistment, separation and division on the home front. As young men head overseas, relationships are tested and everyday life is reshaped by fear, patriotism and uncertainty.
Through letters from soldiers and nurses, the distant violence of the front lines echoes back into the lives of those waiting at home, revealing how hope, loyalty and grief shape a town’s identity in a year that changes them all.
A moving, locally grounded story, 1915: The Untold Story invites audiences in Stirling and greater Adelaide to reflect on how global events ripple through small communities – then and now.
