Basket Weaving Workshop - May (SOLD OUT)
About
Set in the tranquil bushland of Mt Eliza, join us to learn the art of basket weaving while sharing stories and connection. We will begin by exploring a range of basketry methods, followed by an introduction to foraged fibres and sustainable harvesting techniques. Working with locally gathered materials, you will learn how to split and prepare weaving materials, discuss different weaving techniques, before beginning your very own basket.
Throughout the workshop, invitations for reflection and sharing will be given to deepen our connection with each other as we recognise the art of weaving not only as a craft, but an ancient practice that holds so much for us as individuals and a collective.
This workshop is ideal for those with or without prior basketry experience. All materials for weaving will be supplied, as well as light refreshments.
Your facilitator, Kim Schroder from Wild Kindling, has explored many forms of weaving and enjoys creating new pieces using a variety of natural materials. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and skills, inspiring others to learn and pass these traditions on to even more people
